AI visibility tools for online stores: which one is right for you (2026)

Short answer: "AI visibility" tools split into a few groups. Native and free dashboards (Shopify's Agentic Commerce dashboard, Google Merchant Center) tell you whether your products are eligible inside a platform's own AI-commerce rail — start here if you're on Shopify. Enterprise platforms (Profound, AirOps) are powerful and priced for marketing teams. Cross-assistant monitors (Otterly, Peec, and similar) track where you stand across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. The right pick depends on your platform, your budget, and whether you want a tool that just flags problems or one that also hands you the fix.

More shoppers now open ChatGPT or Perplexity and ask what to buy instead of typing into a search box. If the assistant's answer names other stores and not yours, you never got to compete — and you may never see it happen. So a whole category of "AI visibility" tools appeared almost overnight. It's crowded and a little confusing. This guide sorts it out by what each type actually does, so you can pick without buying the wrong thing.

First: these tools answer two different questions

Most of the confusion in this category comes from mixing up two very different questions:

  1. *Are my products eligible in the AI-commerce rails?* — whether your feed and product data qualify to appear when an assistant brokers a purchase (for example, a product showing up in ChatGPT's shopping results via Shopify's integration). This is about your data and your platform's plumbing.
  2. *What do the assistants organically say and recommend when a shopper asks?* — when someone asks Claude "best organic-cotton basics" or Perplexity "where should I buy trail-running shoes," do the assistants name your store, name a competitor instead, or say something about you that's flat wrong?

A tool that's great at question 1 can tell you nothing about question 2, and vice versa. Know which one you're trying to answer before you shop.

The native, free tools — start here

If you're on Shopify or selling through Google, you already have real tools included:

  • Shopify's Agentic Commerce dashboard (free, in your admin). With Shopify's Spring '26 Agentic Storefronts, your products can surface inside ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google's AI Mode, and Gemini — and the dashboard gives you an AI-channel visibility score from your actual store data, shows which products are eligible for AI recommendations, and points at gaps to fix. It's genuinely useful and it's free. The catch: it's Shopify-only, and it mostly answers question 1 — your eligibility in Shopify's own rail — not what the assistants recommend on their own.
  • Google Merchant Center AI insights + Search Console (free). The clearest signal on whether Google's AI is surfacing your products and pulling your content into AI answers.
  • A manual ChatGPT audit (free, but tedious). Ask the assistants your category's real buying questions yourself and write down who they name. It's the cheapest way to see question 2 — most merchants just never make time to do it every month.

Verdict: do these first. They cost nothing and they're foundational. Their limit is that they're platform-specific and lean toward eligibility, not organic recommendation across every assistant.

The enterprise platforms — Profound, AirOps

These are deep, capable platforms built for marketing and growth teams at funded brands — content-at-scale engines, big dashboards, sales-led onboarding, enterprise pricing. If you have a growth team and a budget line for this, they're strong. For an independent store owner doing this alongside everything else, they're overbuilt and overpriced.

The cross-assistant monitors — Otterly, Peec, and friends

These track your brand and product mentions and your share of voice across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini, starting around $29/month. They're good at question 2 — telling you where you stand and who's beating you. The common gap: most of them flag the problem and stop there. You still have to work out why the assistants skip you and what to change.

Where sqrly fits

We built sqrly Pulse for the store the enterprise tools price out and the native dashboards only half-cover — the independent merchant, not the enterprise marketing team. Honestly, here's where we're a fit and where we're not:

  • Cross-assistant and organic. We check what Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity actually say when a shopper asks your category — whether they name you, name a rival instead, or get a fact about your store wrong. That's question 2, across all four assistants, in your free snapshot.
  • Any platform, deepest on Shopify. We go product-by-product on Shopify, and we also work for WooCommerce and custom stores — the ones a Shopify-only dashboard can't touch.
  • The fix, not just the flag. When we find something, we hand you the correction: for some things a ready-to-paste draft (an llms.txt, corrected copy for a false claim); for others a specific, plain-English step-by-step. Nothing is ever published to your store without you.
  • $9.99/month, no account. Your private dashboard link is the login. Cancel anytime.

We're new and small, and we'd rather tell you that than pretend otherwise. If you're a marketing team at a funded brand, an enterprise platform will out-feature us. If you're an independent store that wants to know what the assistants really say — and get the fix — that's exactly what we made.

Run a free snapshot across all four assistants and see where you stand. It's yours either way, no account required.
