Install and set up

What the app asks for at install and later, how your catalog syncs, and how to switch the twin on in your theme and adjust its look and texts.

Docs / Digital twin / Getting started

Setting up takes a few minutes: install the app, let it sync your catalog, switch the twin on in your theme, and teach it what your website doesn't say. The app's Home page walks you through each step in a "Get started" checklist. The twin runs on Shopify today, with more commerce platforms coming soon.

What the app asks for

At install, sqrly asks only to read your products and inventory. That's what the twin needs to answer from your real catalog and live stock. sqrly never writes to your store and never touches payment.

Three features need more access. Each one is optional, and the app asks for it only when you turn that feature on, through Shopify's own permission dialog:

  • Discounts — so your Shopify discounts become offers the twin can mention. Turn it on with "Connect Shopify discounts" on the Offers page. See Offers from Shopify Discounts.
  • Legal policies and Online Store pages — so the twin learns your returns, shipping and contact policies and your published pages (FAQ, About, size guides). Turn it on with "Allow and import" on the Knowledge page. See Teach your twin.
  • Orders — so you see confirmed revenue instead of carts. Turn it on with "Show confirmed revenue" on the Conversations page. See Conversations and results.

Shopify's dialog describes everything a permission could cover; what sqrly actually reads and keeps is in Privacy and data.

Sync your catalog

The first sync starts on its own when you install, and Home updates when it's done. The "Catalog & inventory" card shows how many products you have, how many are in stock, and when the last sync ran. After that, changes you make in Shopify — new products, prices, stock — reach the twin automatically. "Re-sync now" pulls everything again if you ever need it. Until your catalog has synced, the twin stays hidden on your storefront.

Turn on the app embed

The twin appears on your storefront as a theme app embed, so your theme's code is never edited.

  1. On Home, click "Open theme editor" in the checklist. It opens your theme's app embeds with sqrly selected.
  2. Switch on "sqrly product guide" and save.

The checklist step completes once the twin loads on your store.

Settings in the theme editor

The app embed has its own settings for how the twin looks:

  • "Accent color" — the launcher, header, buttons and the shopper's messages. Text switches to dark on light colors.
  • "Corners" — "Rounded", "Soft" or "Square".
  • "Font" — "Match my store" or "Clean system font".
  • "Position" — "Bottom right" or "Bottom left".
  • "Distance from bottom" — raise it if a sticky bar or another widget sits in the corner.
  • "Title" — leave it empty for "[your shop] expert" in each shopper's language.
  • "Launcher label (fallback)" — leave it empty for "Ask our expert" in each shopper's language.

Leave "App proxy path" under "Advanced" as it is unless sqrly support asks you to change it.

The Widget page in the app

The Widget page in the sqrly app holds the settings you're most likely to change:

  • The on/off switch at the top shows or hides the twin on your storefront. Turning it off also closes the "Ask our expert" page and the site tools for AI agents.
  • "Launcher button label" — the text on the button shoppers click. The default is "Ask our expert".
  • "Greeting" — the first thing shoppers see when they open the twin.

Keep the default launcher label and greeting and shoppers see them in their own language; your own text shows exactly as you wrote it. A launcher label set here takes priority over the one in the theme editor. Click "Save" when you're done.

Try it before your shoppers do

"Test console" in the app's menu lets you ask the questions your customers ask and see the answers before anyone else does. Then teach your twin what your website doesn't say.
