Privacy and data for merchants

What the sqrly app stores about your shop and your shoppers, what it never collects, and what happens to your data when you uninstall.

Docs / Digital twin / Results & data

Your twin talks to your customers, so you should know exactly what it keeps. The short version: sqrly keeps your catalog, what you teach it, and the conversations — and almost nothing about who your shoppers are. The full policy is at sqrly.ai/privacy.

What the app stores about your shop

  • Your catalog: products, variants, prices and stock, read from Shopify and kept in sync so the twin answers from what you really sell.
  • What you teach it: your notes, your answers to shopper questions, imported notes from your policies and pages, and web findings you accepted. Findings you dismissed are kept only so they aren't suggested again.
  • Your offers: the discounts you connected or added by hand, and whether each one is shared.
  • Conversations: what shoppers asked, what the twin answered, the products it showed, whether a product was added to the cart or checkout started, and any ratings and "what was missing" notes.
  • Orders, if you turn on revenue tracking: for orders that came from a conversation with the twin, the order number, total and currency — nothing else. See Conversations and results.

sqrly never writes to your store, never handles payment and never reads your customer list.

What it does and doesn't collect about shoppers

  • No names or emails. The twin never asks shoppers who they are. A shopper can type anything into a conversation, so ask your customers not to share payment details or passwords there.
  • Page and cart context. To give a useful answer, the twin sees the page the shopper is on and what's in their cart: product names, quantities and prices.
  • No tracking cookies. The twin sets no cookies. It keeps the current conversation in the browser tab's session storage, so the conversation survives moving between pages and is gone when the tab closes. It remembers the size of the twin's panel in the browser, too.
  • No IP addresses. The twin reaches sqrly through your store's own domain, via Shopify, and the app never receives shoppers' IP addresses that way.
  • A cart tag. When a shopper talks to the twin, their cart gets a small sqrly conversation tag, so you can see which sales the twin helped with.

Requests from your customers

Shopify passes privacy requests from your customers on to sqrly. When a customer asks to be erased, sqrly deletes their orders' records and the conversations that led to those orders. Because sqrly stores no customer ids, a customer is linked to sqrly's data only through their orders.

When you uninstall

When you uninstall the app, sqrly's access to your store ends and your synced catalog is deleted right away. Everything you built — knowledge, offers, conversations — stays for 48 hours, so an accidental uninstall loses nothing if you reinstall. After 48 hours, Shopify tells sqrly to erase your shop's data, and all of it is deleted, unless you've reinstalled in the meantime. Backups age out as described in the privacy policy.
